Nahivciler ile Mantıkçılar Arasındaki Tartışmalar

(Discussions between Arab Grammarians and Logicians)

Mehmet Şirin ÇIKAR

Sometimes the study of Arabic grammar, which verifies the accuracy of expressions at the level of linguistics, and the science of logic, which tests the accuracy of expressions at the level of thought, can be opposed to one another within debates on language. It is very natural that each of the sciences sometimes clashes, while at other times finding themselves in harmony as far as terminology, subject matters and aims are concerned.
This work attempts to address the development of discussions that occurred between the grammarians and logicians, focusing on the disputes between Abu Said al-Sirafi (d. 368/978) and Abu Bishr Matta (d. 328/939)
