Alevism started in the steppes of Turkish Asia with a nomadic culture, and spread to Anatolia and the Balkans, continuing through the Seljuk an Ottoman Empires until the establishment of modern Turkey. Alevism, in accordance with its historical process, has a harmonizing character in terms of faith structure, in which Islam is combined with earlier beliefs and concepts. This work examines Alevism from the past to the present, taking in its cultural bacaraund in an academic framework.
