The institution of “‘āqila” which is related to the compensation of the violations against human life and unity of body constitutes the subject matter of this book. In this book, in which the historical and theoretical background of the subject was given first, the concept of blood money resulted from unintentional killings and physical harms was examined, and then the concept of “‘āqila” in the Islamic legal doctrine was studied. Finally, the latter concept was evaluated from the perception of social security.
