Khabar and Inshā: Informative and Performative Expressions in the Classical Grammar

Mustafa Irmak

This book which aims to examine ikhbārī and inshāī structures, deals with these two terms in detail, and studies their places in language and their ties with other disciplines. It studies the cases in which ikhbārī structures are used in place of inshāī ones or vice versa, and thus points out the misunderstandings caused by misperceptions regarding the aims of these two structures, and emphasizes the necessity to reflect the depths in their meanings to the translations of the Qur’an. In this context, it is a significant contribution to Arabic language and rhetoric.
